In the remoter reaches of space, factions of mankind battle over a rare and critical resource known as Rift Energy. Colonies of humans called Rifters bring forth been exploring the "Frontier" of planets, if it be not that find their way of life threatened through the Outcast, a ruthless species of humans who possess mutated into psychotic monsters due to exposure to this very same Rift Energy. Caught in the something intermediate is Emmett Graves, a hired gunslinger ostracized from association because of his own exposure to Rift Energy, leaving him imperfectly mutated, but still able to employ his humanity. Graves is drawn back to his home liquidation to face a mysterious outlaw and his ~fare band of Outcast warriors.
